Damascus, (SANA) – The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) signed a cooperation agreement with the office of the UN Higher Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) for the year 2014 for supporting the (UNHCR)centers in Damascus, Homs, Aleppo, Tartous and Lattakia provinces and supplying them with medical equipment.
The agreement stipulated that UNHCR deliver the relief aid to the displaced and affected families in several areas through the SARC.
The agreement also aims at enhancing the projects of psychological support and protecting children at the centers of the SARC in al-Zahera, Qudsaiyeh and Barzeh neighborhoods in Damascus , al-Qutaifeh and al-Nabek in Damascus Countryside and centers in Lattakia and Tartous provinces.
The agreement, which is budgeted at USD 17 million, also stipulated on supporting the center of prosthetic limbs in Damascus and the centers in Lattakia and Tartous provinces.
Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, international organizations have provided 20% of humanitarian aid distributed so far, while the Syrian government provided 80%, in addition to delivering relief and humanitarian aid to all affected areas.
